It is presumed that potential students will already possess sufficient knowledge of the basics of theory and harmony (note names, scales, chord structures and harmonic principles) to embark on this study and to comprehend the tutor’s comments.
However further, on-going tuition from stage 1 to Advanced, is available on request.
During your preliminary discussion your level of theoretical and harmonic knowledge can be established. Those in need of more advanced skills may wish to incorporate theory tuition as part of their regular session. This could include: The modes and scales; extension of basic triads and 7ths chords to incorporate extensions (9, 11, 13 and variants of these); applicable modes for all chord types; construction and application of ‘upper structure triads’; advanced concepts such as modal interchange, etc.
